FRIDAY, LOST

Well, there was nothing else to do, so I started the Zombie waterworks.

‘WAAAAAAAAA!!!’

‘WAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!’

‘WWAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!’

This might have been off-putting to the Silverfish around me, because suddenly the crowd was moving away from me.

I really put my rotten lungs into it and wailed as hard as I could.

‘WAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!’

Zombie waterworks to the max

‘Um…’ a voice interrupted my wailing. ‘Do you need help?’

I looked up through my bleary, watery eye sockets to see an old Silverfish looking down at me.

‘I—I—I lost my friends,’ I sniffed. Snot trickled out of my nose hole, but it was the watery kind, not the BOOGER kind that I could collect. ‘We were going to the castle and I lost them and I don’t know where I am and I am lost.’

‘Uh, yes, you mentioned that,’ the old Silverfish said. ‘Well, why don’t I help you? I know where the castle is. I can take you there, and you might find your friends along the way. Would you like that?’

‘Oh, yes, please!’ I sniffed hard again. ‘My name is Zombie.’

‘I’m Blinksworth,’ the Silverfish said. ‘But you can call me Blinksy. Follow me.’ Blinksy turned away from me and started slowly walking down the street.

‘Thank you so much, Mr. Blinksy,’ I said, wiping my NOSE HOLE with the back of my reattached hand.

See how handy that hand is? It is a really handsome hand.

‘Why do you need to get to the castle, anyway?’ Blinksy asked.

‘King Throckmorton asked us to—oh wait. No, I wasn’t supposed to say that,’ I quickly backtracked.

‘King Throckmorton, huh?’ Blinksy raised an eyebrow. ‘How did you get past the GUARDS?’

Just as I opened my mouth to answer, Blinksy shook his head. ‘I don’t want to know. Honestly, the whole thing with Throckmorton and Queen Nadia has gotten out of tail. Constantly battling each other in a prank war. I suppose you’re here to deliver another prank? No, don’t answer that either. The less I know the better. Why are you so small, anyway? You’re a Zombie, right?’

‘Long story. But the short answer is SHRINK RAY,’ I briefly explained.

‘Hmm,’ Blinksy said again.

As we kept walking, Blinksy talked a lot about his life as a Silverfish in the capital city.

‘Sometimes a big Witch will trudge past here and we all have to scuttle away and hide,’ Blinksy sighed. ‘She likes to use Silverfish and Endermites in her POTIONS.’

Oh right, I’d forgotten we were on the Witch’s island.

‘Uh, that sounds bad,’ I said.

‘Yeah, well, what can you do?’ Blinky asked. ‘Anyway, here you are!’

I looked around. We were standing in front of a small cottage with a guard out front. It was a single-story cottage with a thatched roof and two little windows on either side of the front door. Small pot plants hung outside the windows with colorful flower blocks sprouting out of them.

‘Um… where’s the castle?’ I asked.

‘This is it! Trust me, I know,’ Blinksy said.

‘Zombie!’

I turned around and saw Steve and Edie walking towards us.

‘Steve! STEEEEVEEE!’ I bellowed and ran towards him. ‘Steve, I was so lost. I didn’t know what to do! Where did you go?!’

‘Where did I go?’ Steve laughed.
